A long tradition in construction

In Finland, the tradition in regards to wooden constructions spans a number of centuries. From the start of the 1500s, small huts “Savutuvat” were the first log framed dwellings carved by hatchets in Finland. Over the centuries, the tools, methodologies and knowledge in regards to working with wood have developed dramatically.

The northern environment, in all its severity, forced the inhabitants to develop the tradition of log home construction, which in due course drastically improved the survival possibilities in the arctic conditions. The logs cut from the ductile and strong trees of Lapland created a warm and protective - permanent home, which endured the harsh weather.

The construction know-how, which has been refined over thousands of years, continues to exist in Finland. In its developed and modern layout, the log houses always represent Finnish professional skills. Thus, a log home is also a strong commodity for export.
